ST. MARY’S PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL ELECTIONS With three open seats on St. Mary’s Parish Pastoral Council and three candidates, we will not need an election this year. Congratulations to Patricia Hurton, John McAdam, and Stephanie Muzzy who will begin their first term. You can read their bios below.
PATRICIA HURTON I am a relatively new member of the parish. From my initial visits to St. Mary’s, I was aware of the joy, friendly, and devout atmosphere that exists - not only in the church – but in the parish. I continue be very impressed with the Christian spirit of reaching out to people in the parish as well to those in need in the Worcester community. The spiritual, social, and educational activities that are available to all ages are significant and outstanding. Most of my adult life I have been involved in church ministries in various dioceses. These include Eucharist Minister, lector, chair of “Catholics Returning Home” program, president of women’s clubs and parish social organizations, and Bishop Coleman (Fall River Diocese) scholarship committee. I was also a member of the Parish Council at Christ the King Parish in Mashpee, MA. I am retired and volunteer for several non-profit organizations. This gives me an opportunity to use my experience of many years in management and leadership development. I am honored to be elected to the Council and look forward to serving St. Mary’s parish.
JOHN MCADAM I would like to introduce myself, my name is John McAdam and I have been selected to be a member of the pastoral ministry. Believe it or not I married my wife here at St. Mary’s in 1970. I have been an active member since 2006. Here at St. Mary’s Church I am a Eucharistic Minister and a sacristan. I am looking forward to working with the pastoral committee improving and upgrading our church.
STEPHANIE MUZZY Our family has been participative members of St. Mary’s Parish since August of 2005. During that time I have served in a variety of meaningful volunteer roles including: Saint Mary School Parents Association (SMPA), the School Advisory Board, co-founder of the Saint Mary School Service Club, and member of the Family Festival Committee and the Parish Day of Service Committee. Professionally, I was previously the Advancement Director for Saint Mary School where I was responsible for raising impactful dollars for the Fund for Saint Mary School in addition to leading marketing initiatives and social media presence. Today, I am the Associate Director of the Holy Cross Fund at the College of the Holy Cross. I work with alumni classes to promote the value of donor participation to benefit current students and provide philanthropic re sources for the next generation of mission-driven leaders. I see this moment to serve on Pastoral Council as an ideal opportunity to utilize my commitment to servant leadership, my dynamic professional background, and my passion for promoting fellowship to actively serve the members of our St. Mary’s faith community.
