I am pleased to announce that our search for a new Director/Coordinator of High School Religious Education and Youth Ministry has been successful.
Mark Smith will be joining the St. Mary’s Parish Staff this summer on August 1st. Mark is a native of Derry, New Hampshire and a 2019 graduate of Franciscan University of Steubenville with a Bachelor of Arts in Theology. For the past year Mark has been on the faculty of St. Mary Jr. – Sr. High School in Worcester teaching religion and organizing Campus Ministry events for the students.
While a student at Steubenville Mark worked in the university’s IT department and hosted a weekly radio show on the campus FM Radio station. He was also active with Household Life, a Catholic Fraternity, which focused on spiritual growth and development. In addition to planning and organizing the annual Household Retreat, Mark also ministered to the homeless population of Steubenville preparing and serving meals every Sunday afternoon. Mark also served for one year with AmeriCorps in Iowa and participated in a variety of community and environmental service projects. He led a group of inner-city youth in outdoor restoration projects and worked with seventh grade students in their science curriculum.
THANK-YOU to the members of the Search and Interview Committee for their work reviewing ten resumes, interviewing candidates and recommending Mark for the position. Maryann Raymond, John Valutkevich and Nancy Anne Driscoll.
We look forward to welcoming Mark to the St. Mary’s community this summer.
