Catechist Information

The Religious Education office invites parishioners to discern if God is calling you to support the faith formation of the youngest members of our parish.  It is out of our Baptism that we are called to respond to the Great Commission: “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations…teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” (Mt. 28:19-20)

Being a Catechist offers numerous rewards. It provides an opportunity for personal spiritual growth and deepening one's own understanding of the faith through teaching others. Catechists often find fulfillment in witnessing the spiritual growth and development of their students, fostering a sense of community within the parish, and making a meaningful impact on the lives of others.

Qualifications:

Our catechists are parents, grandparents, adults, students, first-time, long-time, and former catechists. We are looking for people who seek to learn and prepare, who are committed to helping our young people encounter Jesus Christ and live as his disciples, and who trust that God will provide all they need to be effective teachers.  To be a Catechist you should:

• Be a confirmed practicing Catholic who regularly participates in Sunday Mass and the life of the parish.
• Have a desire to share your faith and love for Jesus with children and young people.
• Be able to relate comfortably with children and young people.
• Be committed to quality Catholic education.
• Begin or continue working on your own faith formation.
• Have satisfactorily completed the Safe Environment program.
