When a parishioner dies, the family should contact the funeral home of their choice and then notify the parish. The family will meet with a member of the parish staff to prepare for the funeral. (See the resource links for the funeral readings, musical selections, and suggested words of remembrance.) If the deceased has expressed particular wishes regarding their funeral, these will be carried out, as far as possible.
Depending on when the Church is notified, someone may come to your home to offer prayers around the time of death. If there has been a prolonged illness, hopefully, we have already been involved with you and your family through our visitation and outreach programs.
There are options available – either a Funeral Mass or a Funeral Liturgy can be conducted in the Church. We can also offer funeral services at a funeral home, a crematorium, or at the graveside.
