Welcome, and thank you for visiting the St. Mary's Parish Grades 1 - 4 Religious Education page. Classes meet regularly throughout the school year! These classes help children develop and strengthen a closer personal relationship with God and lead to a deeper understanding of the Catholic faith. Within the program, we also prepare children for the celebration of their First Reconciliation and First Communion. Preparing for these two sacraments takes two years starting, usually, with first grade. During the second year, the child will celebrate both Sacraments. |
First Reconciliation Dates & Times
TBD
First Communion Mass Dates & Times
TBD
The strength of our program relies upon the generosity and gifts of all of our volunteers. Between 80 and 100 adults help make Religious Education possible each year! While many opportunities require a commitment from September through April, others require less commitment. Those relating to sacramental preparation (2nd grade) involve some additional preparation, meetings, and events.
Each year we have a variety of volunteer needs:
Catechists – Use already prepared lesson plans to help children develop a love for God and an understanding of the Catholic faith.
Substitute Catechists - available to cover for catechists when they are unable to attend on particular class dates.
Each employee/volunteer must complete a CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) Request Form which is then submitted to the Commonwealth of MA through the Diocese of Worcester for processing. Each employee/volunteer must also complete a safe environment training program which is offered to St. Mary Parishioners. This online program, entitled Protecting God’s Children, is offered through VIRTUS. To access the REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS for the one-hour St. Mary’s VIRTUS online training program, click here or contact the Religious Education Office by phone or email for more information.
