Registration for your 5th, 6th 7th and/or 8th grade child in the general program is a two-partprocess.
Step 1: You first will need to register your child online for the religious education program.
Step 2: Sign your child up for a specific in-home class, which will be done online only, at the end of August.
The middle school program is an in-home program. This means catechists (teachers) teach from their homes (some teachers choose to teach on our St. Mary campus, but space is limited).
The catechists are free to choose the day and time that best fits their schedule.
The middle school classes meet twice a month for an hour and a half.
Parents must sign their child(ren) up for a specific class, online-only, at the end of August. All registered families will be notified of the exact dates for class sign-ups in the middle of August.
Class/catechist requests cannot be accepted by a catechist: any requests must be addressed through the 5-8 religious education coordinator and is not guaranteed.
Please note, as with the elementary grade classes, each class must have a balance, and we cannot-and will not- overload a catechist with too many students.
Parents of all registered students will receive an email the week prior and then two days before the class sign-up dates with specific information for going back online to sign up for a class.
If you do not go online and choose a class day/time within the allotted one-week time frame, your child will be placed in a class with openings available.
Please think about teaching or co-teaching (that means only once a month.) It is such a rewarding ministry, and, in the process, you learn more about your faith (you do not need to be a theologian to teach...really!) We are always looking for volunteers, so please consider teaching.
If you have any questions or concerns or would like to talk about possibly teaching this year, please contact Kathy Canfield, Religious Education Coordinator, by email (kathy.canfield@stmarysparish.org) or phone (508-845-6341 ext. 313)
